Women’s Institute November report

Thursday, 06 November 2008

Our September speaker was well received and we all were fascinated to learn what magic knickers and miracle jeans could do for us!   The Alan Titchmarsh show was very enjoyable and, a departure from their normal practice, for the first time the cameras were trained on the audience and several of our members were recognised by family and friends watching at home. Fame at last.

In October we tried our hand at card making – a thoroughly enjoyable pastime – and we all went home with at least one hand made card to send to a friend at Christmas. Three visitors attended this meeting and seemed to enjoy themselves, so we hope they will all come again.

At the November meeting on Wednesday 19th the title is ‘Pampered Chef’. We shall have a cookery demonstration and will be eating the food prepared and cooked for us as well as being able to purchase from a selection of equipment and novelties to give for gifts at Christmas (or indeed keep for ourselves).  Our W I is also being studied and photographed by a young student from Thames Valley University as part of her study of Groups. We shall be very interested in the outcome of the study.

If you haven’t made it to a meeting yet please do try and come along. A warm welcome awaits you and delicious refreshments are served every month, not just when the Pampered Chef is with us!

Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month in the Community room at the school at 7.45pm. If you need transport to the meeting please telephone 01954 2211501.
