What’s happened to the skate park?Thursday, 13 September 2007 For those of you who are skate boarders, and those of you who have seen that we have had the equipment boarded up, this is why. You may remember that we had problems with the Environmental Department of S.C.D.C. with regards to the noise coming from the skate park and to ameliorate the situation we moved the equipment round, put up an acoustic fence and planted some extra trees. The “boarding up” is the last bit of this work. What has happened is that the engineers have put a lot of plastic foam material on the underside of the equipment and then applied marine ply to the outside and then sheet metal on top of that. The outcome is that the sounds coming from the equipment, when used, will be deadened. VandalismI am afraid to say that while the above work was going on, vandalism took place at the back of the “half pipe” when some-one pulled off the marine ply and scattered some of the “foam”. The village is indebted to the engineering company doing the work as they put the damage right at no cost to us. If anyone has any information about this stupid act of vandalism the Police would like to know as a prosecution can then be brought. |
