Sponsor Ian Storr to climb Scafell Pike and win 6 bottles of wine!

Thursday, 17 January 2008

Via the “Hardwick Happenings”, can I please thank all those people who bought Raffle Tickets in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The money raised has already been banked, and I am sure that Action Medical Research is making very good use of it. I was going to run another Raffle, but I was told that a better way to raise money for this excellent Charity, would be to do something that involved myself being put into an uncomfortable environment !!!!!!!!!!! So here is what I am going to do:

In June this year I will be climbing England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike. Now I know that to some of you this may not be “an uncomfortable environment”, but to me, it will.

How can we help you, I hope that you are now asking yourself. Easy. Sponsor me to climb the “Pike”. I will be asking anyone that I see to sign a Sponsorship form and I hope to have a few friends take some “forms” from me to get more Sponsors. As a little bit of bait, anyone Sponsoring £5 or more will be put into “a draw” to win 6 bottles of wine.

About Action Medical Research

The words below are taken from the Action Medical Research web site: –
Touching Tiny Lives is Action Medical Research’s campaign highlighting the urgent need for more research to help sick and vulnerable babies. We want to raise an additional £3 million over the next 3 years to help find answers to premature birth, pre-eclampsia and other serious conditions, which threaten babies and expectant mothers.

Thanks in large part to advances in medical research, the majority of babies can look forward to a healthy future. For most families it is a time of immense joy and relief when their child is born safely. But not all births go as expected.

Around 70,000 babies each year – that’s over 10 per cent – require some sort of special care when they are born. Tragically, over 3,000 babies die within the first year, and premature birth is the single biggest cause.

Please Sponsor me and help Action Medical Research get that £3 million.
