New website launchedThursday, 17 May 2007 Why did we need a new website? The original Hardwick website was launched in 1995 and looked after by Andy Smith until he left the village in October 2006. Andy did a fantastic job keeping the site up-to-date but, due to it's sheer size, it was becoming unmanageable. Updates to the site were also time consuming and could not be done without specialist knowledge. Finally, the site was showing its age and needed an overhaul. David Horton and Graham Bird both responded to the advertisement for a new webmaster in the parish magazine and decided to share the responsibility. They started building a new site in late 2006. ContentsThe new site has the following sections:
Coming soonOver the coming weeks we will be adding new features to the site:
Where is...?Having been updated for over 10 years, the old site was very large and, unfortunately, we have not been able to add everything. This means that some sections of the site are rather sparse at the moment. However, we plan to backdate the new site in many areas so that nearly all of the old webpages exist in some form. However, we cannot promise that your old bookmarks will still work. Feedback wanted! We would love to hear what you think about the new website. As the original Hardwick village webmaster, could I be the first to congratulate Graham Bird and David Horton on the new Hardwick website. It looks a lot more user-friendly than the old one and I am sure it will prove a very valuable community amenity for the
village.
