New webmaster requiredThursday, 09 April 2009 I have looked after the site for the last couple of years but I am moving to pastures new. Therefore we have a vacancy for a volunteer webmaster. How techy do I need to be?The site is maintained using software called Expression Engine which makes most things very easy - but you will need some technical knowledge. Roughly speaking, if you set up your internet and e-mail yourself you'll probably be fine - if you got someone else to do it you may come unstuck. However, you won't be left high and dry because I am happy to give help and advice from a distance. What will I need?You will need a computer with broadband. That's it really. You can get some FTP software too but that is free. Some documents are provided in Word format so it helps if you have Microsoft Office. How long will it take?To a large extent you can spend as much or as little time on the site as you like, but the bare minimum is approximately an hour every two weeks (once you're familiar with everything). There is also some answering and forwarding of e-mails. Sometimes it may be beneficial to attend Parish Council meetings. Will I get paid?No, the post is a volunteering opportunity.
