New Hardwick business makes energy visible

Wednesday, 23 July 2008

Green Energy Options is a local new start-up business based in St Mary’s Court, Hardwick. What we are doing is producing a range of products that will ‘make energy visible’ as over 50% of the energy consumed in the UK is used in buildings, however it is largely invisible. Our aim is to help both home and business users manage, understand and reduce the amount of carbon dioxide they produce.

We have worked to develop a range of products, or ‘Energy Hubs,’ as we like to call them that allow the user to monitor their heating and hot water usage, as well as the energy consumption of up to 100 appliances. There is also the ability to remotely isolate appliances with our top range models. The use of one of our devices could save the user up to 20% off their total home energy bills by giving information in a unique, encouraging and engaging way on where energy is being used and wasted in the home or business. How much you save is up to you of course, we are simply giving you the tools to understand your energy consumption.

As we are just starting to go to market we are currently working with Carbon Connections and the University of East Anglia on a trial of our new home energy monitoring devices. The trial starts at the end of this summer and runs until next spring and is open to people living within East Anglia. There are three options in the trial involving different versions of the models that will monitor your heating, hot water and appliances. We are offering the Home Energy Hubs at a 70% discount, the Solo model is available for £75, the trio+ is on offer at £250 and there is also a free option.
