Hardwick Millennium preparations continueMonday, 21 June 1999 At the last meeting of the planning group, it was felt that the outline of the events to be organised by the Community Association had been mapped out. (See the Millennium Diary). The plans had got to the stage when smaller groups could be formed to go ahead with the more detailed planning of these events. Fortunately there were enough volunteers to form these groups, but no doubt they will need to call in help from friends and families as the planning progresses. We have tried to provide something for everyone in the village, and have followed the suggestions that have been passed on to us. The plans so far have progressed as follows: * Some people from the village had contacted the planning group, to say that they would like there to be a gathering in the village on 31 December 1999 to see the beginning of the year 2000. We are hoping to plan something. * A route for the Hardwick circular footpath is being tried and walked. The County Council has been contacted for information about sign posts and waymarkers. * Fireworks display, early evening on 1 January 2000. Further information about this is still awaited. * Friday June 30 - Disco for the under 18 * Saturday July 1st There will be a parade or carnival leading to a Hardwick Happening; some events have already been booked for this. There will be a Disco and Barn Dance on the Saturday evening. * Sunday July 2nd - The official opening of the circular footpath followed by a joint service with St Mary's and the Evangelical Church. The weekend will be rounded off by a village tea party. h3.
