Hardwick 2000 Village Survey

Friday, 01 May 1998

I am sure that during the year 2000 there will be many celebrations, in Hardwick, as a community, in the village clubs and organisations, and within families and friends. The plans are already being made for this year. The Community Association delivered a survey to ask the people of Hardwick how they wanted to celebrate the millennium. This survey put forward various suggestions, and also asked for any other ideas and suggestions. Many thanks to those people who replied, and to those who offered to help in some way towards the events which will be held. All these people have been invited to the next Community Association meeting to see if all these offers of help can be linked together. All of the suggestions put forward had some support, and there is no reason why they cannot all be held, as long as there are enough people willing to organise and support them. Other suggestions included: * Talent competition * Bungey jump * Permanent facilities for the under 5s * More facilities for teenagers * More events for the senior residents of the village * Golf practising area * Greenwich mean time marker * Hardwick Internet Site * Car Park / Lay-by for the Post Office and shop * Traffic calming * Improvements to the village pond. * Squash Court * Tea room / cafe / Social club * Swimming pool * Village map * Swimming Pool * Community Minibus * New Scout & Guide headquarters * Cycle path These replies will be discussed at the next Community Association meeting.
