Ed Deak writesFriday, 21 October 2005 Ed Deak lived and worked at Red Brick Farm from 1948-55. He now lives in Big Lake, BC, Canada. If anybody is interested in details and names of people from that period he would be happy to supply them as best he can (Ed's e-mail address is thinker@uniserve.com). Ed writes: "I remember Joe Kester very well and saw him on his rusty of tricycle creeping along the road many times. His son George "Happy" Kester was a good friend and co worker of mine, as was Mr.Sherman, who must have been Bill Sherman who lived in the council houses on the road to Toft. I wrote a story once he told me about his time with German POWs as a foreman for WarAg. If you look at the 1980 aerial photo of the village, it shows a triangular meadow across the road from the church, with a light coloured oblong patch near the drive way. That was our home and the patch must be the concrete block it was built on."Next: Martin Hay writes Previous: Vandalism in recent weeks |
