Council Chairman’s Peruvian Challenge

Friday, 15 June 2007

In May 2008, Parish Council Chairman Ian Storr is hoping to go to Peru and climb the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Ian writes:- “What the hell is an old fool like Ian doing wanting to do something like that for”, I hear you saying. Well it is for a very good cause. It is in order to raise some money for Action Medical Research. Amongst the many things that they do, they raise a great deal of money for research into Premature Births and other “baby problems”. To take part in this climb, I have to promise to raise something in the order of £3,000 and get that money collected by the end of February 2008. What the expedition entails is flying to Cusco, the capital of Peru and staying there for a couple of days to acclimatise and then spending 4 days climbing the trail and spending 2 nights under canvas !!! I have only spent 2 nights in a caravan in my whole life and hated that so how I will get on in a tent I have no idea. I already try to get to the gym twice per week, and will have to get into even more intensive training between now and next May, if I do feel that I have a chance of raising the money. So, here is where you come in hopefully. How do you feel about giving me a “promise” of a nice donation of say £10, £15 or £20? If I do find that enough of you will back me, I will then register. The “promise” of a donation for "Action Medical Research":http://www.action.org.uk to help me reach my target of £3000 should be sent by e-mail to ianstorr172@btinternet.com with the amount of your “promise”. If I do register, then and only then, will I ask you for the money. Thanks Ian
